Beginner Blogger

Hi Everyone
i am going to blog for the time being in all lower case as my computer doesn't seem to want to capitalize some letters and doesn't like to type some of my numbers and punctionation, i have to call to get this fixed but do not want to give up my laptop right now. This is my first time to blog. so please forgive if i ramble to much, i'll catch on as i go.

this time i will tell you something about me. i am married to a united methodist minister, we have been married for 38 years. we have two children, a son, Chad, 37. he is married to kristen and they have three children, kyle 11, brett 8, and leigh ann 7, and we have a daughter, heather, 35. she was married but is divorced now with a daughter, sara, 10-they both live with us. what a blessing to have a second round and raising a child, a little different with being a grandchild and being a little wiser and having more time to in our life. i will reflect on this experience another time. my niece and her daughter are also living with us also at this time. they came from californina in august. they are still trying to figure out whether they want to stay in the east or go back west.

i am retired from the university of delaware and i am loving the freedom to do whatever i would like to do each day. i can sleep in, i can stay up reading or working on a project, i am not on any clock or schedule.

i am a scrapbooker. i love catching and saving my memories with my grandchildren that they will one day show their kids and grandchildren. i began scrapping when my first grandchild, kyle was born.

i began quilting a year or so ago. i always said i would start quilting when i retired. i bought a top of the line bernina when i was working, thinking it would be just what i needed when i retired to begin quilting. i loved my machine and have done a lot of sewing of clothes, etc. over the years. i finally got around to working on my first quilt. then i took a class to make a larger quilt. i bought jim flynn's quilting system and tried to quilt this quilt and i had trouble getting the stitches to be the same. i realized i needed the bernina stitch regulator and of course my sewing machine was to old to take this new item. i heard about the new sewing machine that bernina had come out with and i stopped into a bernina dealer and learned about an embroidery workshop they were sponsoring and i signed up as it caught my interest. well, i attended the workshop, ended up purchasing the explorer software to work with embroidery designs and a bernina embroidery machine, it was the latest deco. i loved it and fell in love with machine embroidery. then with the problem of the quilting stitches, i ended up ordering the bernina 830 and traded back my deco. i am loving the embroidery and pushing myself to sew more on the 830. i kept my bernina 1630, if feel so secure sewing with it but i have this fantastic smart machine that i must do more sewing with it. i usually sew on the 1630 while i am embroidering on the 830, i likeave to multitask. i purchased the quilting frame for the 830 when i purchased my 830. i have tried it and it has the quilt i made in the quilting class but i have had the 830 so tied up with embroidery that i haven't tried quilting that much on the frame. that is on my to do list to begin very soon.

well, i am going to end my blog for today. if anyone has used the quilt frame and quilted using the new bernina 830, i would love to hear from you.

happy quilting - sally
